Lesia achieved her career-high No. 23 in 2019. She kicked off season in strong fashion by reaching final of Brisbane (l. Ka.Pliskova), her first final at WTA Premier level. Defeat of No.5 Osaka en route to Brisbane final was second win over a Top 5 player, after upsetting No.2 Wozniacki at 2018 US Open.

Lesia started playing tennis at age 6 when her parents introduced her to the sport. She studied at Physical Education & Sports in Ukraine for 1.5 years (no longer studying; hopes to return one day). Her favorite shot is backhand. Her best tennis memory is 2013 Australian Open. Lesia speaks Russian, Ukrainian and English. She enjoys watching sports, playing pool and hanging out with friends.
